Steven L. Nelson was born and raised in the Quad Cities. He is a 1970 graduate of Western Illinois University, Macomb, Illinois, with a History major and Political Science minor. Following four years of teaching seventh and eighth grade Social Studies, he attended Drake University Law School graduating in December, 1976. He has been in private practice in the Quad Cities since that time.

Community Efforts:
Steve was on the Board of Trustees for Western Illinois University. He was Chair of the Board from July 1, 2008, to June 30, 2010. He also serves on the Project Management Team for the City of Moline, Illinois, the Alleman High School Christian Education Fund Trust, and on the Seton Catholic School Foundation. His past memberships were on Western Illinois University Foundation, Skills Foundation, Skills, Inc., and Short Hills Country Club.
